Our story

Founded in 1987 by Francine Bouchet, La Joie de lire specialises in children's literature. They have brought to light many talented local and international artists, and are helping to rediscover our literary and artistic heritage. La Joie de lire's bold and demanding editorial line has earned it the BOP Award for Best European Children's Publisher 2021.

The Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia promotes the translation of high-quality Swiss children’s and youth literature by providing generous funding support for publishers in Switzerland and abroad. At the request of publisher’s, Pro Helvetia may assume the costs of having Swiss literature for children or adolescents translated.
