Louise is 16 years old. She goes to high school, loves poetry, her friends and her 8-year-old brother, Rudy, whom she affectionately calls “the mole.” However, Louise’s life is not always easy… Her mother is suffering from a severely crippling serious illness. She’s a single mum and unable to take care of her children; especially since one morning Louise’s father left the ship, leaving his daughter alone at the helm. That’s a burden too heavy for a child of that age to bear. Shopping, her mum’s injections every night, checking her little brother’s homework….
little by little Louise finds herself in a role that is not her own. And last but not least her ex-boyfriend, who is annoyed that she left him, takes revenge online. A sensitive and poignant novel about young caregivers, those teenagers that have to support their sick parents.
