As far as clowns are concerned, it’s all about the nose! The moment Victor Hussenot’s new character puts his on, his power to entertain knows no limits. Of course his hats, clothes, and shoes help complete the look, but it’s this red nose – the only coloured element of the album – that draws us in to the young illustrator’s witty and captivating universe.
With each turn of the page, the clown finds himself in a series of adventures, each funnier than the last. Similarly to his previous titles in the Somnambule collection, Victor Hussenot presents a character searching for his place, seeking a more open minded and playful view of the world. The clown meets a young lady clown, together they start a family, and he encounters others who seem less inclined to have fun than he. A meandering story where humour and poetry are intertwined with fantasy. All of a sudden the clown turns to face the reader, throwing his red nose to us as if passing the baton…
With this latest work, Victor Hussenot confirms his talent as a master of the comical and disarming peripety.
